I'm up at arms and I need to make sure I'm wearing my battle gear, the belt of truth holds all of our armour together (Ephesians 6:11-17). That is crucial in our fight because we wrestle not with flesh and blood but with unseen forces in Satan's army.
I guess since I grew up in a conservative home, with a dad who is a conservative Bible teaching pastor, I have not been assaulted by this type of junk. Our home was not perfect, but my parents love Jesus and they love us and diligently taught us as Deuteronomy 6:6-8 says:
"And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes."
A liberal mindset filled with corrupt teaching is out there... oh it's out there and multitudes are being duped. Matthew 7:15 says:
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."
I challenge us to be true followers of Christ Jesus and diligent readers of the Word of God to know what is right and what is wrong. Let's teach our children from the most Holy Word so that they might know the way to go -- and pray!
Let us do as II Timothy 3:15-17 commands:
"And that from a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, That the man of God may be perfect (meaning complete), thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

Let's dive into the Word of God like never before so we may be able to combat the enemy with the truth!

Susan we must be on the same wavelength. I read something that set me off as well. As usual, I approached it in a satirical way.(is that spelled right)
I read about someone who believed part of the Bible and made assumptions about what she thought the real truth was about the rest. Really strange thinking going on these days.
As I speak out more about my belief in God I am finding more and more people who like to point out little things that they think are wrong with God or religion and it is hard hold my temper so I just say; I will pray for you which really sets some of them off.
This is totally crazy.
Susan:
I encourage you to do some reading on Rob Bell, prominent leader in the Emergent Church movement. The Church needs to stay informed and be able to recognize the wolves when they enter the sheepfold.
I think you'll be shocked at what you find.

I tell you, Susan, the things that are happening today leave me speechless. There are no words for what is going on today. These are dark days. Know your Bible; be on your knees is all I can say.
God help us. We must be vigilant and we must be grounded on the Word of God and Truth. We are in troubling times but I believe the true Body of Christ will grow brighter and stronger in these last days as the world and false religion grows darker and darker. We must make the truth know at each and every opportunity we have.

Susan,
So true! I didn't learn about the whirlwind of deception until about a year and a half ago. I felt like I had had my head in the sand and when I pulled it out and looked around, I didn't recognize the world called "today's Christianity". Seeker sensitive (Rick Warren, Perry Noble, Willow Creek church, etc), emergent (Rob Bell, Brian McClaren, Doug Pagitt, Tony Jones, etc.) health and wealth (Kenneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis, Joel Osteen, etc.) and churches that have replaced using the Bible with using life stories are all normal in the new landscape. It's astounding. I agree with you that we must ground ourselves in the Word so we can discern the errors that are being accepted as truth by brothers and sisters all around us.
Hey Greg, as you know, we can't pick and choose which parts of the Bible we like and which we don't - we can't make God into who we want him to be. You're right, this is CRAZY! Like you, we need to pray!
Hi Jules, I will look into this more. I did follow a link to one of the "speakers" and the website itself and was shocked to see a prof. from Messiah college speaking at the event, a college we're considering for our son. I knew Messiah had gone more liberal but what hornets nest could we be sending him into - praise God he's been grounded on the Word and reads and studies the Bible himself, comparing Scripture with Scripture. The wolves are on the prowl. Thanks for speaking up!
Maxine, yes those liberal "theologians" are out there, my dad faced this when he went to college and grad school and stood firm, the challenges even grounded him more in his faith and sent him right back to the Word of God to give the right answers. He had an excellent pastor that taught the entire Word of God (reading it cover to cover every year at least once, sometimes twice). My dad has done the same through the years and my son who is going to college next year, praise God has been under my dad's pastorate. Some of the "Christian" colleges we're considering because of the specific major my son wants are more liberal. At least we feel there is better standard as far as morals (ie: no partying, etc.) as oppposed to living on a secular campus, but my son sat in on a "Bible" class and man oh man, he raised his hand and spoke up even as a visitor! Indeed, we need to bathe our children and churches in prayer!
Yes, Susan, we must know the Word of God, not just parts of it. I read a blog article written by one of these "pastors" and she sounds so "well spoken", but what she is saying is wrong!!! Oh how they take Jesus' words and twist them to what they want, to cover and confirm their sin!
Thank you Tara for stopping by. Yes, when you're in a good Bible teaching church, it's easy to become comfortable. We must arm ourselves and our family with not only a knowledge of God's Word, but how to rightly divide the Word of truth! Satan likes to masqerade as an angel of light. It's one of his most effective strategies, but when Jesus was tempted on the mount he rebuffed Satan with the Word of God. We need to memorize the Word so we can do the same.
As hard as it is...I think it's best to treat these people with love...yet being secure within yourself.
When asked---giving an answer for the hope that is within you.
Yes, it is so important for us to be in the Word...and/or under a good Bible teacher that looks at scripture in context and historical context.
A side note:
One argument that continues to come up from open minded people is: How do you know YOUR interpretation is the right one?
Yes, Sharon, we can speak the truth in love as long as we don't compromise the Word of God.
One way of knowing our "interpertion" is correct is comparing Scripture with Scripture. Where many liberals go wrong (and cults too) is to take a verse out of context. Satan is a master at this!
P.S. Sharon, if people would only open up their minds to the Holy Spirit... but if they do not know Christ to begin with, well, that is where it begins.
This is so true! We need to understand what the Bible says so we can effectively do battle.
Did you happen to post about the different Sabbaths?
I look forward to reading it.
